Excellent book. Every IR fellow should have it.It has a step by step description for every procedure. Better than the next edition because it has all IR procedures and in the new one a large part went to an app storage.

The book arrived as promised. It is clean of any marks and is in very good condition. The book is small and thick. To compare it with DVD case it is half an inch taller and half an inch narrower. It is approximately as thick as 3 DVD cases put together. And weight is as heavy as 1 1/2 to 2 of 16.9 fl oz water filled bottles. The font size is small around Arial 8 size. The book doesn't offer or accompanied with online ebook or access nor CD. The material is only the book.

I'm an radigographic technologist working in interventional radiology. I got this book because it had good reviews. This book is ok. There are tons of procedures in it and lots of things about the cases. However, i'm starting to try and study to take the boards and this book is not for me. The type is tiny and I don't think it contains the type of information i need to learn. This book seems better for residents then a technologist (atleast an entry level technologist in IR I have 6 years of radiology experience). Its mostly how to do a procedure step by step with some information on indications and contraindictions. I can learn from it but its a huge read (900+ pages) for me.

To be clear I absolutely love the Descendants. My entire family adored the TV movie and came to the books looking for more. This on the other hand is nothing more then a copy of the dialog from the movie minus the songs. There is no more depth then what you saw on the screen and it's just sad that they didn't make an effort with this book. The other novel the prequel called 'Isle of the Lost' is an amazing story that gives us a richer feel for the characters. Great book, but its out of date at this point. Autocomplete is one of the most interesting applications of ElasticSearch and it outlines an out of date method of implementation using edge n-grams rather than the suggestion API. ElasticSearch 5.0 is also out with some nice new features and greatly improved performance, so I might advise people to wait on a new edition.

This book is great! Some of the examples might be out-of-date, but a quick search can find SO answers on syntax changes. Buy this book for the commentary. The authors do a wonderful job of adding color to many of Elastic's features and design choices. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to learn the Elastic stack, even today. It's thick due to JSON in the examples taking up space, but it is a relatively fast read.

This book begins assuming all you know about Elasticsearch is the name, but the final chapters include deep wisdom about creating and tuning multi-node clusters. There are a lot of technical books that are long on fluff and examples, but short on the gritty details an architect needs to know, but that is not a problem with this book.Strong recommend on this, absolutely delighted it's on my book shelf.

At work we are planning to use elastic search for some of our use cases. Having no background on search I turned onto this book.What I’ve liked about this book is that it sets you up nicely. Starts easy with plenty of examples/code snippets while also covering the underlying concepts and pitfalls without overwhelming the reader.The only disappointing piece for me was that this book didn’t covered some key features getting deprecated in 6.0 release. And that has a major impact on the way you design your indexes. One such feature is mapping type, thankfully one of coworker read it somewhere and after doing some research it was confirmed and we had to rework on our design. My recommendation will be to wait until they have new edition that covers 6.0 release before buying.Overall a good reference book to have for elastic search.

While a lot of the content comes from the documentation, it's organized in a much more organic fashion. The book covers everything from the underlying distribute system internals to design to sophisticated querying to administration/maintenance. If you're using elasticsearch, and you're serious about it, get this book.

While the writing and explanations were often great, several of the code examples are no longer current. For example, the examples in the first chapter helping you enable the Marvel plugin don't work (the syntax was updated over a year ago.) Granted, the examples used in the book are for ElasticSearch 4.? whereas I'm working with 5.5, but I expected an update so I could follow along with the examples without having to break to understand changes.The book mentions that ElasticSearch's RESTful API can be accessed using tools from largely every language (eg Python), but makes no mention of issues that come from using python's "requests" library. A section on language-specific implementation (if only a brief primer on the use of ElasticSearch's wonderful Python library) would have been helpful while retaining the language independence that the book is right to pursue.All of these would normally be "nice-to-have" features, but I expected a bit more given how I kept having to refer back to the official documentation as I read.

This is a fine book. It saved my bacon.I'm a database developer, expert in Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL. But I knew nothing of Elasticsearch. When my boss wanted a product catalog database moved from MySQL to Elasticsearch I needed help. This book was just the ticket.

Good enough to pass!! CLEPS are scored 20-80, you need a 50 to pass. I got 54. I graduated high school 15 years ago, and community college with a 3.25 GPA 12 years ago. So its been a while since I took any biology related classes or biology tests. This book helped.Some of the sample questions in this book WERE ON THE TEST. Not a lot, maybe 3-5, but I couldn't believe it. I love the layout of this book, not a lot of pages. First there is the reading section, which is difficult at first but I just pushed through, its maybe 40 pages. Then flash cards which helped me a lot (I am terrible at plant parts!) probably 20 pages with 8 a page, so a lot. Then a practice test.I read the book, somewhat carefully, once. I did the flash cards until I got them all right, I got about half the first time from reading, but some of the material on the cards was not in the text. (Awesome! Learn more!) Then I did the practice test and got a little over half right. I did the test slowly, some of the material was not in the book but every answer was explained.From reading other online reviews, many people complained about OTHER study guides which were too general and that the CLEP test was VERY specific. 100% true. The CLEP is super specific. Memorizing this book wont make you ace the test, but studying it may help you pass. I spent about 4 hours reading and studying this book, and another 60-90 minutes taking the practice CLEP in the CLEP book, as described below.After I finished this book, I took the practice test in the blue CLEP study guide that is sold on the CLEP site. It only has sample questions and gives the answers but does not explain them. None of the questions in that book are on the test, BUT it helps you learn how to take the test and which kinds of answers are correct. Before I read THIS book, the practice test PETRIFIED me. After reading this book, studying flash cards, and thoroughly reading the practice test in this book, I felt like the practice test in the CLEP was do-able.When test day came, the first 10-15 questions, I had never seen before, some of the words I never heard of. But there are 115 questions on the test, and I would say this book made me familiar with up to 80. I have a few more CLEPS to take, but biology was the one I was FAR most scared of. I'm excited to use this brand of study guide for my future tests. Excellent book! Great price!

The story starts with the two Steves making and selling boxes to confuse the phone system into granting free calls. It chronicals the development of Apple computer from the first Apple through the Lisa, endless varities of Macintosh and today's iPod. Throughout the story, the massive ups and collosal failures of this American instution are laid bare.The layout is interesting as well. As characters are introduced, the reader frequently wonders "What happened to them?" More often than not, the question is answered in a sidebar. This showed that Apple wasn't just a great product developer, but also a great developer of silicon valley talent.The book details the extremes of the players personalities:- How Jobs agreet to split the proceeds of an Atari deal with Woz, only to keep 90% of the income himself.- How Woz forced the company to go public early by sharing his stock with too many employees.- How Gasse talked folks out of liscencing the technology until it was too late.- How several successive CEOs tried in vain to save the company.The book also details some lesser known stories from Apple's storied past:- How the 1984 commercial almost never made it.- How the company decided to abandon Copland. (& Why!)- How the company got sued by Carl Sagan, and how they dug their ditch a little deeper.There's a lot of "Hows" here, which really shows how deep the author gets into the company's history and soul. You come away with not just a knowledge of the people, but their personalities and why exactly things turned out the way they did.This book is excellent reading for anyone interested in the world of technology, and an absolute must for fans of Apple.

This was a good book about the history of Apple. I am NOT an Apple fanboy by any means. In fact, I don't own a single Apple product and never have. But I have always been intrigued by the genius of Steve Jobs and how difficult it was to work for him. I'd recommend this book for anyone that loves the history of how a big business got started.

I eagerly bought Apple Confidential 2.0 after reading a positive article about it on a well known computer news web site. This book doesn't disappoint - I read the entire thing cover to cover in about three days, although in retrospect, it would have been fun to spread it out a bit more to enjoy it longer.The book is well written and easy to read, and very importantly in this often heated subject matter, it appears to be genuinely unbiased. Featuring the story of Apple Computer Inc. from its inception to the present, the book not only gives a general overview of the good and bad times at Apple, but also presents many juicy tidbits. Sidebars throughout the text present numerous quotes from well known players - Steve Jobs, Wozniak, and many others. Pictures of some of the early machines are provided as well as timelines for various products and CEO's.As another bonus, the resignation letters of several of Apple's CEO's are included in the text.On the downside, the latter part of the book is not quite as good with several omissions such as mention of the wildly popular XServe and the Virginia Tech supercomputer cluster made with XServe's. This seems like a fairly glaring oversight considering how important the enterprise market is to Apple these days.Overall, I think any Apple history buff would find the book fascinating, and I can even imagine that the book would be interesting to people who don't know much about Apple at all. The history of Apple is quite interesting and should provide engaging reading material for nearly anyone.What are you waiting for? Buy the book!

The book has no conceptual arc; it ends without concluding anything. Glaringly unedited in any perceivable way, it's hard to imagine how this got published at a time when its subject, Apple Computers, was either ignored or greeted with hostility by the overwhelming majority of computer uses. Published 10 years later, Walter Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs is more fluidly composed, but is pretty much a rushed summary of facts with his life little, much like Apple Confidential, which suggests that valuable historical assessments of Apple may be another 20 years in coming.

Some good, easy to read information for Mac novices who want to learn some early Apple lore.A bit dated now, a lot has happened since the book was published.

I have read some of the reviews of this book. I used the "Mac Bathroom Reader", as well as the Levy book "Insanely Great" during my quest to be CEO of Apple. Both were helpful in outlining the people that I would potentially be dealing with. Steve especially.When working with people, it is nice to know all the angles. I believe Owen covers them well.Apple is a story unto itself. Constantly evolving, never staying still. It requires addressing in the fashion that Owen uses.
