My son picked out the calendar, and I thought it was silly, but everyone loves it. We keep a calendar in our kitchen for the family. Yes, an old school, paper kind. This is really bright, colorful and fun and printed on very good paper. Our sharpie appointments and special days never bleed through. It is an old fashioned way to keep a calendar, but it allows everyone to see what is coming up without sticking our faces in an electronic device. All three kids have gone through with delight to see which characters were in their birth month. It was a much bigger hit than I expected for a calendar.

Perfect for fans of both nintendo and retro game's art. The art looks great and even the font of each month is stylized to match the game being referenced. I would've preferred more game covers personally, but what's here is perfectly awesome on its own. As for quality, this calender isnt flimsy at all as its printed on very thick paper. So thick that even markers won't bleed through one page to the other. If youre a fan of video games or even retro art, make this the calender you get this year.

I love getting a retro Nintendo style calendar each year. The Super Nintendo calendar really takes me back to the 90s and how awesome everything was.

Very nice calander. I will admit that i do not own a nintendo console, but i grew up playing them and i like admiring the art for this calandar. They also integrate the design into the numbers on the calandar which is a plus. For the price this is more than worth the purchase.

The WWII Japanese Internment camps represent a sad, embarrassing chapter in American history, which is probably why I never read about it during my time in school. Over 110,000 Japanese people were forcibly sent to 1 of 10 camps throughout the West. The majority of the internees were actually U.S. citizens, some 2nd or 3rd generation. The author was only 7 when her family was bused from Los Angeles to Manzanar in a remote corner of the Eastern Sierra between Mt. Whitney and Death Valley. The camp wasn't even completed yet when the first internees arrived. Families were assigned half of a flimsy barracks building with no walls for privacy. They ate communal meals and used communal toilets.The climate was hostile, with heavy winds howling down off of the mountains kicking up dust constantly. The cold winter weather penetrated the thin tar-papered walls of the barracks buildings. In spite of the remote, hostile environment, the inhabitants worked to make their temporary home more comfortable, by decorating and building partitions. They cultivated vegetable gardens and harvested fruit from the orchards. Kids went to school; babies were conceived and born at the camp. In short, life went on. However, the camp life lead to an inevitable deterioration in the family structure. Meals were communal rather than family events, and parents had no way of providing for their families in the traditional method. Jeanne's father had a very difficult time in camp, and deteriorated into alcoholism. As she wrote in the book though her life started in camp, her father's life ended there. He never recovered his fishing business or his sense of self worth.The book provides an insightful glimpse into the daily life in the camps as well as the emotional and economic toll extracted from the inhabitants. They lost their businesses, their homes, their way of life and their dignity. In a sad commentary on the personal havoc wreaked by the camps, the author noted that the last to leave were the elderly people; they had nothing to return to, and no energy or confidence to go back into their old communities and rebuild so they hung onto camp life until forced to leave.I had the opportunity to visit the desolate, remote Manzanar camp in 2012. Only a couple of barracks are left, but there is an excellent visitor center that faithfully recreates what it must have been to live there. You can drive around the roads and see how large the camp was. The magnificent mountain range looms large on the horizon, with tantalizing beauty and freedom, which was denied to those inside the barbed wire fences.Farewell to Manzanar is a beautifully written important memoir since there is so little written about that time. Pay no attention to the number of 1 and 2-star reviews. It appears that most of those are written by school age children who were forced to read the book and do a review, and probably didn't appreciate the cultural significance of the internment camps.

A personal account of how devastating it was for Japanese-Americans to be rounded up and interned during WWII. Previously I had only a vague notion of the facts. Reading this book was like living the fear, shame, and deprivation right along with the Wakatsuki family. After Pearl Harbor, when a new Federal policy labeled Japanese-Americans as undesirables and exiled them to remote desert camps, the plucky Wakatsukis, and over a hundred thousand more like them, struggled daily to preserve their family life and their self-respect despite degrading conditions and helpless dependence on handouts. As the war drew to a close the camps were shut down, but their effects on the interned Japanese-Americans were lifelong and reached into the next generation. This small but powerful book is a page-turner.

I read this book with my three boys (ages 13 and a pair of 12 year old twins) as an adjunct to Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. I read Diary of a Young Girl as a pre-read for the twins' 7th grade literature assignments coming up this school year. The book was dreaded by the boys but ended up being "not so bad." As an additional perspective on WWII, following the recommendation of the twins' academic counselor, we read this book, which was very good and a bit more relevant to half-Chinese kids growing up in California.Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir, written by a woman who was 7 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. She describes Camp Manzanar, and reflects poignantly about her father's emotional challenges and her own struggle with racial and cultural duality.This is a lovely, low-commitment read which lends touching insight not only into the terrible way Japanese-American civilians were treated by the American government, but also, more broadly, the challenges I believe all Asian cultures face - the dilemma of assimilation v. individual rights. Racial bias exists in the oddest places and often, when encountered, is either innocuous or ridiculous enough to warrant disbelief, dismissal. However, the stain of personal shame is unavoidable in all of these situations, and Farewell to Manzanar eloquently depicts this exquisite conundrum.

WARNING! CONTAINS SPOILERS! I am eleven years old and I read this book for summer reading. I am an advanced reader but it was very confusing because the times and years kept bouncing around. It is a true story mainly about a girl, who is the youngest of ten, from a Japanese- American family during World War II. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, they're sent to an internment camp. SPOILER ALERT! Her dad is sent to jail for allegedly sending oil to Japan. In the beginning of the story, Jeanne is seven years old , but she is about 35 at the end. The story is set in the internment camp, middle school, high school, and home. It is a very sad book, but also happy. When I finished the book, I was both sad and confused. I give this book three stars because the book was kind of interesting but confusing at the same time. If I could change anything, I would put the story actually in chronological order, instead of the storyline bouncing around. My favorite part was the end when Jeanne comes back to the internment camp with her kids years later and she looks around, remembering funny and sad memories. It was the most emotional part of the story. I would recommend this book to teens and adults.

I found this book to have some excellent recipes within. However, if you are looking for a major primer on oils or extensive information, this is NOT the book for you. This book is designed to be for someone newer to essential oils who does not want to create their own recipes or someone who has "been around the block" but wants something simple to help them learn more and try different things with a reduced risk of error.Other reviewers have complained about the choices of oils and the expense. I found her list to be fairly accurate but VERY different from her starter kit for the free online course she offers through Aromahead Institute.My recommendations to other readers: (and potential readers!)1: Read the ENTIRE BOOK and decide which formulas you wish to try. THEN purchase your oils accordingly. This will save the expense of oils you do not like, do not want to use, or do not plan on using. Start small and pick 2-3 recipes instead of the whole kit n' caboodle.2: She recommends MANY times in the book to research your oils. This book is not intended to be for that research. Know that ahead of time and be ready to invest in a good book on essential oils and other herbal remedies. Until you are able to make that investment, there are many locations online, including Aromahead Institute and reputable online companies that sell essential oils, absolutes, and hydrasols which can help you.3: This is NOT meant to be the end of your journey in essential oils. Be ready to keep studying and learning. This is the start of the path, not the final destination.4: Last but not least, please learn proper safety protocols and USE them. For your safety and the safety of those you love.

I think this is a very good book but too little information for the price. I’m aware of Andrea Butje’s well respected and well earned reputation in the aromatherapy community. I just received this book and am disappointed with how thin it is. I know it has quality information in it, I’m just very disappointed that it does not have much more quality information and recipes. If I had seen this on a bookshelf in a bookstore, I would not have purchased it.

I just got this book and read mostly through it in one evening. It's not a thick book obviously, but it is packed with great recipes using essential oils for the home and your health. The author lists a "starter kit" list of essential oils if you're unsure of what you need and all the recipes have a descriptor of what they can be used for or any cautions of use. She also includes a list of where to buy essential oils and bottling products (this may seem silly because you can search online but amazingly the 3 websites she listed for oils don't automatically come up on the Google searches I've done and I think the quality of these products are probably better than some of the other sites that Google DID provide on the first search page). There aren't a lot of details in this book about how essential oils are extracted or too much about safety other than a few general mentions here and there but it is exactly as described on the book description - a recipe book! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a way to eliminate some chemical cleaners in your home, discover new lotion and beauty recipes, or for some simple diffusion recipes to help with cold and flu season or everyday living.

I bought the ebook for my collection of aromatherapy authors. Andrea Butje does an awesome job of creating an easy to read and easy to understand book on how to use essential oils in your home, office, traveling, and outside use. I find it an amazingly great resource and one that I use often. The author provides purchasing tips, blending techniques, and dilution standards. I love the abundance of recipes and the advise that one should start to blend beyond these recipes because it is all about the knowledge learned, application, and safety in the use of each essential oil. Branching out to discover and connect with new oils is what I have been doing. Love the book and it should be on everyone's bookshelf. Thanks to Andrea I am enjoying converting my home and daily living around the substitution of commercial cleaners to those nature developed for us.

I guess I was expecting something more than what this book is. It's okay, the recipes are okay, but you can find recipes like that on the web for free. I don't know, I thought there would be at least a description or background info about the EO's used, but sadly no. I guess the book is what it says, a recipe book and I can't be mad at that.

This is a great beginner book with lots of nice easy instructions. It was thinner book than I thought, but Andre Butje writes a well balanced easy to understand book on essential oils. I will use this often!

I don't want to be pressed with marketing for specific brands and their blends but instead want to know how individual oils work singly or in blends. This book does just that. Not only does the book cover necessary tools but basic oils to start with and a suggested list of what to acquire over time. There are several recipes in the book and they are designated as to the appropriate level of expertise needed to blend them. It's a quick read but still an excellent resource that I keep coming back to review.

This book is fantastic. Tons of great recipes authored by a truly evidence-based aromatherapist. Let this book be a gateway into the massive body of work Andrea Butje has bestowed upon the aromatherapy world. I am a student in several of her online aromatherapy training programs. She provides a sane and beautifully effective path for the science minded individual through the often misunderstood and underestimated world of aromatherapy. I have invested a lot in her training and haven't regretted a minute of it.

I bought this product used, but it was described with answer key. Surely it has a answer key that was used before so basically you can't use it for a second time with a different e-mail.I never bought this type of book before so I didn't know about this answer key thing. I think the description is misleading.So if you want answers, just buy the new one, or better buy an app for TOEFL IBT it's same price as the book come with video class, you can buy tutor time and more exercises.

Excellent book for TOEFL IBT test. Cover all the skills you need for the test (reading, writing, speaking, listening).It comes with a english lab access that is very helpful when you are studying for the test. Other important fact about this book is that comes with a answer key that explains all the answers for the exercises.

This book is very helpful, but the CD doesn't provide you with the listening section. You will have to either cut or photograph the conversation from the back and have someone to read it for you. My teacher and her husband recorded the conversation for me, which is very helpful too! The recorded conversations is sold separately, and it is not cheap, so I didn't buy it. Plus, it more difficult to find it than to find two people to record it.Other than the missing conversation, this book does teach you to ace TOEFL'''''''''''s many tips on how you should approach a question.After all, I would recommend this book!
