I've been reading Josh's information about China for several months. I found this book to be very nice because all the info is in one place. Does he answer ALL the questions anyone might have (like the 3* reviewer)? No but that would be impossible. What this book does is give you a lot of guidance about a lot of things, some of which have probably not occurred to you yet. Along with this are many links to further guidance. If you're planning a trip to China, this book can't possibly NOT be beneficial in some way. And the price is wonderful.

I really appreciated the information in this book. It was an easy read and I loved the personal and conversational tone of the book. Josh shares his personal experiences and does an excellent job painting a realistic picture of what to expect when visiting China.He covers everything from the types of food you can expect, to major holidays that are observed, to tourist traps, to Chinese Visas, and everything in between. The book also gives you some very important reality checks that many travelers may not consider.This book helps to prepare you for the situations you will never think of, or would be impossible to think of unless you already have prior experience. If you were on the fence about visiting China, this book will definitely tip the scales in either direction because you will be left with accurate knowledge and more realistic expectations of China.

The content is great! Very helpful and full of links and recommendations, all given in the down-to-earth manner you'd expect of this author. However, there's no table of contents so you have to scroll through the entire book to find the section you want. A bit frustrating.

It's not often that a purchase pays for itself in the first few minutes you use it; this little guide did! Great and accurate information that saves both time and money. It helps to explain the VISA process and where to obtain it quickly if you wish...cut through the red tape with this information. I cannot recommend this book more highly. Buy and enjoy your travel time with fewer worries.

This book doesn't tell you where to go or what to see but rather gives you the information you need to structure your trip. Train stations, bus stations, visiting people, getting your visa, why Air BnB might not be your best choice, money issues- all the nuts and bolts of good planning. We are going In a couple of months and I am certain that this book has saved me from a multitude of serious mistakes.

This book is an absolute treasure chest of helpful, practical information for anyone with an interest in, or plan to travel to China. Fantastic book, great value for money. This is not a competitor of Lonely Planet or other guides of that nature - Summers does not go into detail about places of interest or where to go. But, this is by far the best guide on HOW to navigate China and what to expect, down to very minute details. Simple a must have.

I eventually learned all this info myself, after a lot of reading (and a couple years of needlessly challenging and expensive experiences).

I found this book to be a fascinating and compelling read, and finished it in two days. I looked up almost all of the companies mentioned, while I was reading, and am amazed at the wealth of knowledge in this book. Each company's stock had a Buy recommendation on Robinhood, with good reason to expect growth in this sector. The author did a masterful job of delineating what the details of emerging tech were, and showing how specific companies had positioned themselves to take advantage of upcoming opportunities. I will be following the recommendations given! If you have any questions about the value of the information, check out what it costs for a subscription to the Tech Trend Trader. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to profit from today/tomorrow's emerging technological developments. I would even recommend it for someone who has no interest in investing, but is curious about what aspects of tech are real vs. rumor or scifi. When you read what steps companies have taken, and how many millions of dollars they have invested, in specific tech advances-it makes it far more real that this is what's around the corner!

We live in exciting times but unless you ride the coming technological wave that is happening at an exponential rate, it could be disastrous. I have been following Jon Markman (successfully) since the late '90s so am not surprised about the breadth AND depth of his coverage of the technological landscape but it is still mind boggling. Because of my investing interest in tech through Jon and others, I am familiar with many of the concepts and companies he covered but still this sounds like science fiction. I will be putting all his recommended companies on my watch list.

Unique book that captures most all future technologies being pursued by companies that will disrupt our lives in mostly good ways.

I have been hearing about driverless cars and artificial intelligence, but until I read this book I didn’t realize how close they are to becoming important parts of our lives. Markman makes the subject very approachable and fascinating with interesting anecdotes and down to earth explanations. And more important, he offers long-term, patient investors some specific public companies you can buy to take advantage. Very cool.. Highly recommended my an industry veteran, institutional equity trader and portfolio manager.

Of the dozens of language books I've used in the past to supplement my beginning language learning of several different languages, I consider this one the absolute best I've used. It was exactly what I wanted, an explanation of basic grammar, with just the right amount of examples, for a beginner in the language. Because it is not an exhaustive grammar book, and written in an extremely readable style, it is a joy to read, and extremely helpful. My learning process of late is usually a combination of starting with Pimsleur, if available, especially if the Unlimited app is available, and later supplementing it with LingQ, italki tutors, (insert language)Pod101, JTLanguage (disclaimer--I wrote this one), TPRS books, and whatever good teachers or material I can find on YouTube. It's frustrating that some sources like Pimsleur expect you to infer the grammar, so this is a great resource to let you go back and actually understand better what you were supposed to infer. I see that there are other "Everything Essential" books. I'll check them out. It would be nice if Mr. Swick, for other languages that he doesn't have expertise in, could supervise others who do to create books in this same style and format, as he obviously has the know-how for it.

This 2013 Book clearly presents the basics, such as German pronunciation, the four cases, common verb tenses, modal verbs, separable prefix verbs, adjective endings, indirect objects, word order, numbers, and subjunctive.This is a succinct first German book good for self-study.Type size and good paper are very readable.Book is 5.25 inches wide, 8.5 inches tall, and .75 inch thick, with 256 total pages.Book has Answers in the back to its exercises.Book has good coverage of basic information in a readable, fast format, using explanations, sentences, exercises, and tables where useful.

Essentially, the text of this volume is good and very helpful. Thus far (not finished yet) I would give the writing 5 stars. However, the paper qualityis near to being newsprint and the the print itself is way too light. They must have been saving the ink for something else.If you get the book cheap, it is worth it but the exact same volume in hardback with readable type and good paper would be great and very useful. Too bad the author used cheap materials for his book. Three stars is the best I can do.

This explains a lot of the grammar encountered in the German language in easy to understand language. The clues for determining the gender of nouns is great.

Great price, fast delivery, BUT this is NOT a good textbook. Good for learning rules, but not for learning a language. I am a retired teacher who's taught Spanish and English as a Second Language.

I appreciated the author's approach of comparing characteristics of the English language with that of German, so the new grammar and vocabulary did not seem so unusual. I also liked the conversational style which made for easy reading.

One of the better German books I've had to work with.

The book itself is succinct while giving really good tips on details that are unclear about the grammar, and putting it in a way that's easy to understand. Each section is peppered with small exercises.However, I first saw this in a bookstore before ordering it from amazon. The paper quality in the store was much better, thicker that would withstand writing and erasing several times. The book I received has a cheaper paper that will wear out quickly, so note that if you plan to write in the exercises rather than using separate paper.

I would be giving this one the five full stars even if Marty Morgan and I haven't known each other from various historical presentations for seven or eight years now. I was actually Marty's back-up slide flipper when he presented some elements of this work at the 2014 NRA Annual Meeting as "The Guns of D-Day Part II".Anyone with any interest in the Normandy landings has seen some of these pictures before. Marty's genius was to go back to the original negatives in many cases, blow them up bigger, and think about them. Let me explain a perfect example of this. There's a pic of 2nd Division men marching in from Omaha after the landings. It's a known pic. It was the cover of a 1990s paperback edition of Keegan's "The Second World War" that I have had since college. But looking more closely at it, why are a battalion's worth of frontline infantrymen in a M1 Garand-equipped army all carrying M1903 Springfields instead? Marty has found the answer and it is in the book. Repeat that dedication to lost details hundreds of times over, and you have the effort that it took for Marty to assemble "The Americans At D-Day".I don't know if this book could have been done twenty years ago. The book is a large enough format to display the photos well, and modern digital printing brings out the detail. The devil really was in the details this time around, and the details are what makes this book worth every cent.Marty, I'll see you in Nashville in '15 and you're signing this one for me.

While the cover over Americans on D-Day uses one of the best known shots from June 6, 1944 -- of men of the 16th Infantry landing at Easy Red -- this book is a beautiful addition to the huge library of books about D-Day because of the hundreds of pictures, described with clever detail that give the reader a comprehensive picture of the entire American experience during the invasion of Normandy. Pictures of spent 5-inch casings on the deck of the Nevada, small landing craft near supporting cruisers, documentation of the sheer enormity of the effort all give you an exhaustive, comprehensive appreciation for the magnitude. Accompanying these pictures, many of which are in color, are small vignettes and interesting detail that can be studied for hundreds of hours. Martin clearly poured extensive knowledge and years of research into this beautifully crafted book. The chapter focusing on the saga of the American paratroopers at Graignes is one of the finest I have ever read. I am pleased to have added this important volume on D-Day to my World War II bookshelves.

Tells every little detail about the amazing photos. I am always amazed with whatever Morgan presents.I only wish he had been my history teacher years ago. I got a deal on the book, but a problem that might keep folks from buying this great book is the price.

If you are looking for a book about D-day that not only provides you with information that you may not know but unseen photos, this is your book. Marty is an amazing historian that has such a wealth of knowledge, I learn something new every time we talk. I have both of his books and I have no problem stating that they are some of the best I have ever read. I also purchased this book for my grandfather, who was very impressed with it. I can not wait for the next Martin Morgan book :)

To say that “Spit and Passion” is unlike any graphic narrative I’ve ever read would be a gross understatement. Cristy C. Road might very well have invented a unique genre with this book: the genderqueer Latina Bildungsroman (facilitated via punk pop—namely, Green Day) graphic narrative.And it’s very good. And very frank. Her language is rather salty, and her images are sometimes quite…well, graphic. Road does not hold back one iota as she traces the myriad sources of anxiety that bedeviled her middle school years. From her Latina heritage and the simultaneous love/condemnation she received from the adult women in her family to the unrequited crushes on female teachers to the excruciatingly cruel torment that is middle school (even for kids who are NOT genderqueer and/or bisexual) and the sweet temptation of a real-life girl crush, Road endures a gauntlet of emotional angst that rings true. Add to that her contemplative nature and her tireless quest to figure out why she’s feeling what she’s feeling and why she feels so bad about feeling what she’s feeling—and the result is a very powerful story of queer youth.All of its merits notwithstanding, I would certainly hesitate to teach this book to adolescents. Although it would be appropriate for mature adolescent readers, it would definitely be problematic as a class read. Just as some adult novels might be appropriate for young adult readers, “Spit and Passion” is a young adult graphic narrative that is appropriate for more adult readers. I hope that the teens who need to read this tale will seek it out and find it—but I doubt they will do so in an academic setting.

I've always known Cristy Road to be a multidimensional artist, playing in bands, writing and publishing zines, and producing amazing artwork. I even commissioned her to do the cover of a one-issue zine I did years ago. However, other than knowing she's a bit of an icon in the queer punk community, and must be a big Green Day fan based on her nom de plume, I didn't really know anything about her. This short-but-striking memoir of her life at ages 11-13 chronicles not only her home and school life, but her raging inner turmoil as she tries to work out her identity.It's a classic story of a kid from a loving, but somewhat repressive cultural context -- she grew up in a Cuban-American family in Florida with traditional Catholic attitudes toward homosexuality. School life is no better, as the misery of middle school in the early 1990s (cruel girls, idiotic boys, hormones everywhere) is further complicated by her inner sense of being different. Like so many alienated kids, Road finds consolation and connection in music -- in her case, the pop-punk of a Green Day tape loaned to her by another outsider at school.As someone who both also found connection through punk (in my case The Clash), and bought Green Day's debut EP, 1,000 Hours, when I was still in high school in 1989, I can completely understand the depth of her passion for her new discovery. So, even though I'm a middle-aged straight white guy and didn't face her agonies about sexual identity and otherness, her memoir still strikes a chord. And of course, her trademark illustrations and text is amazing as always. She's got such a bold, confident and distinctive style -- here sometimes deployed in ways that are more imaginative and grotesque than usual. Highly recommended for teens and tweens everywhere who don't feel like they belong.

I don't usually like graphic novels--but I'm glad that I took a chance with this one! This memoir is an amazingly rendered, spot-on story of what it's like to grow up feeling like an outsider and then have your whole life be turned around by the discovery of a favorite band. There's too few books out there that handle both music/nostalgia and also real issues with any kind of depth or integrity, and this book succeeds.

Road's drawings are incredible and this memoir is such a sweet gift for anyone who has ever felt like a weirdo or an outsider. I highly recommend it!

This book was hard to read. Not because of how the writer chose to write it, but because of all of the brain cell killing logic that only a radical feminist could relate to. I googled the writer and nothing popped up but things about fried chicken. I googled the title of the book and only feminist media had it featured. I couldn't stand reading this book.All I saw in this book was a story of a gilr who grew up crying and whining about everything, coming up with excuses for her weak actions and choices in life. For how much "important people" liked this book, its not all that popular.So why did I read this? Because I'm a Green Day... or I was a Green day fan. This girl is OBSESSED with Green Day. Green Day pops up in this book so much, you'd thing shed want to wear their skin around her house. Not only that, her depth in judging people is proven poor when, in the beginning, she relates everyones personality to Zodiac signs. She also says stuff in this book that totally demolish her point to what she was saying before.For example in the book she talks about being in middle school and being subjected to "gender inequality" because girls got secret deoterant and mascara, and boys got other deoterant and chewing gum. Then she says she was offended... offended enough to stuff what was given to her in the bottom of her bag "if she ever needed it." Why would she keep it.if she were truely offended.Honestly I think this book is nothing more than half truths told by a radical feminist who wanted attention, and had the money to pay for it. So unless you are completely out of touch with reality, enjoy reading poor me I had a hardish life where most of my struggles were my fault, I wouldn't buy this. If you're just curious, don't waist your money. Your local library will have it, and if not have them order it. This is not worth the price its set for.

I have read a number of books on Business Continuity Planning. This book is by far the best. I have suggested to my business contacts to read this book and they all say they have benefited from the information. Even if your company decides not to develop a complete plan, you will find valuable steps you can take that will reduce your disaster risk easily and without major funding. It is set up like a workbook and takes you logically and methodically through the planning process from start to finish. I found it particulary beneficial that this guide enabled me to clearly explain to senior management the importance of developing a plan and the steps we should follow to develop ours. The book may not be for the seasoned BCP planner, but it is an invaluable resource for those of us who need to know the right questions to ask and what to do with the information once you get the answer. The CD-ROM that is included provides easy to follow worksheets, forms, samples and links to other resources that can be found on the Internet.Mr. Fulmer has done us a great favor by putting this step-by-step guide together. I highly recommend it to anyone who newly faces this callenging task or needs to update their existing plan.
